Mention in the Book Abraham; He was truthful and a Prophet. 41 When he said to his father: "O my father! Why do you worship that which hears not, sees not and cannot avail you in anything? 42 "O my father! to me hath come knowledge which hath not reached thee: so follow me: I will guide thee to a way that is even and straight. 43 "O my father! serve not Satan: for Satan is a rebel against (Allah) Most Gracious. 44 Father, indeed I fear lest a punishment from the Gracious One afflict you, and you become a friend of Satan." 45 (The father) replied: "Dost thou hate my gods, O Abraham? If thou forbear not, I will indeed stone thee: Now get away from me for a good long while!" 46 He said, 'Peace be upon thee! I will ask my Lord to forgive thee; surely He is ever gracious to me. 47 I will leave you and those you invoke apart from God, and pray to my Lord. Haply in praying to my Lord I will not be deprived." 48 So when he had left them and those they worshipped other than Allah, We gave him Isaac and Jacob, and each [of them] We made a prophet. 49 And bestowed on them some of Our blessings, and gave them high renown. 50
