T H (Taa Haa)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Ta, Ha. 1 We have not sent down the Qur'an to you that you should be burdened, 2 but only as an exhortation for him who fears God; 3 Sent down by One Who created the earth and the lofty heavens. 4 the All Merciful settled on the throne. 5 To Him only belongs all whatever is in the heavens and all whatever is in the earth, and all whatever is between them, and all whatever is beneath this wet soil. 6 And if thou speakest aloud, then lo! He knoweth the secret (thought) and (that which is yet) more hidden. 7 Allah, there is no god except He. To Him belong the most Beautiful Names. 8 (Muhammad), have you heard the story of Moses? 9 When he saw a fire, he said to his family, "Wait here. I can see a fire. Perhaps I can bring you a brand from it, or find some guidance at the fire." 10 And when he came to it, he was called, "O Moses, 11 I am your Lord. Take off your shoes, for you are in Towa, the sacred valley. 12 “And I have chosen you, therefore listen carefully to what is divinely revealed to you.” 13 I am God, and there is no god but I, so serve Me, and observe acts of prayer to remember Me. 14 Although it is certain that the Day of Judgment will come, I prefer to keep it almost a secret so that every soul will receive the recompense for what it has done (on its own). 15 Hence, let not anyone who does not believe in its coming and follows [but] his own desires divert thee from [belief in] it, lest thou perish! 16 The Lord asked, "Moses, what is in your right hand?" 17 He said: "This is my stick, whereon I lean, and wherewith I beat down branches for my sheep, and wherein I find other uses." 18 Said He, 'Cast it down, Moses!' 19 So he cast it down, and thereupon it turned into a sliding serpent. 20 [Allah] said, "Seize it and fear not; We will return it to its former condition. 21 “And put your hand inside your armpit – it will come out shining white, not due to any illness – one more sign.” 22 That We may show you of Our greater signs: 23 Go to the Pharaoh; he has become a rebel." 24
