'Lord' said Moses, 'expand my chest, 25 And ease for me my affair. 26 and loosen the knot from my tongue 27 that they may understand my speech. 28 Appoint a deputy (for me) from my own people. 29 Aaron, my brother. 30 Strengthen me through him 31 "And make him share my task: 32 That we may hallow Thee oft. 33 And remember Thee oft. 34 Surely Thou seest into us.' 35 He answered: "Granted is your prayer, O Moses. 36 We have bestowed Our favour on you before this 37 When We revealed to your mother what was revealed; 38 saying: "Put him in the box and cast it into the river. The river will cast him on to the bank, and he shall be taken up by an enemy of Mine and an enemy of his." I lavished My Love on you, and to be formed in My Sight. 39 "When your sister went and said: 'Shall I show you one who will nurse him?' So We restored you to your mother, that she might cool her eyes and she should not grieve. Then you did kill a man, but We saved you from great distress and tried you with a heavy trial. Then you stayed a number of years with the people of Madyan (Midian). Then you came here according to the fixed term which I ordained (for you), O Musa (Moses)! 40 And I have chosen you for Myself: 41 Go, you and your brother, with My signs, and do not be remiss in remembering Me. 42 Go ye twain unto Fir'awn, verily he hath waxen exorbitant, 43 Both of you must speak with him in a gentle manner so that perhaps he may come to himself or have fear (of God)." 44 'O our Lord,' said Moses and Aaron, 'truly we fear he may exceed against us, or wax insolent.' 45 He said: Fear not, surely I am with you both: I do hear and see. 46 So go to him and say: 'The two of us have indeed been sent by your Lord. So let the children of Israel come with us, and do not oppress them. We have come to you with a token from your Lord. Peace on him who follows the way of guidance. 47 It is revealed to us that those who call our message a lie or turn away from it will face the torment." 48 Fir'aun (Pharaoh) said: "Who then, O Musa (Moses), is the Lord of you two?" 49 Moses replied, "Our Lord is He who has given everything its form, then guided it." 50 He (Pharaoh) asked: 'How was it then, with the former generations' 51 He (Moses) answered: 'The knowledge of them is in a Book with My Lord. My Lord neither goes astray, nor forgets. 52 Who has made earth for you like a bed (spread out); and has opened roads (ways and paths etc.) for you therein; and has sent down water (rain) from the sky. And We have brought forth with it various kinds of vegetation. 53 You eat and let your cattle graze' Surely, in this there are signs for those of understanding. 54
