The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ CLOSER DRAWS unto men their reckoning: and yet they remain stubbornly heedless [of its approach]. 1 no Remembrance from their Lord comes to them lately renewed, but they listen to it yet playing, 2 Their minds are lost in frivolous pastimes; and the evil-doers discuss secretly: "Is he not but only a man like you? Then why are you taken in by magic seeingly?" 3 He says: 'My Lord knows what is said in the heavens and the earth, and He is the All-hearing, the All-knowing.' 4 Yet they say: "These are only confused dreams," or rather: "He has invented them;" or: "He is only a poet. Let him therefore bring a miracle to us as the earlier (apostles) were sent with." 5 Of the villages We destroyed, there was not one that believed. What, will they not believe? 6 And We sent not (as Our messengers) before thee other than men, whom We inspired. Ask the followers of the Reminder if ye know not? 7 We had not made them such bodies that would not eat any food nor were they immortal. 8 Our promise to them came true and We saved them and those whom We wanted, but destroyed the unjust people. 9 We have revealed a Book to you which is admonition for you. Will you not then understand? 10
