The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Woe to those who give short measure, 1 who, when people measure for them, take full measure, 2 Whilst when they measure or weigh for them, give less. 3 Think they not that they will be resurrected (for reckoning), 4 For a tremendous Day - 5 The day all mankind will stand before the Lord of all the worlds? 6 No indeed; the Book of the libertines is in Sijjin; 7 And what will make thee know whatsoever the record in Sijjin is? 8 A record of misdeeds written. 9 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies, 10 Those who belie the Day of Requital. 11 And none deny it except every sinful transgressor. 12 When Our verses are recited to him, he says, "Legends of the former peoples." 13 By no means! but on their hearts is the stain of the (ill) which they do! 14 On the Day of Judgment, they will certainly be barred from the mercy of their Lord. 15 Then lo! they verily will burn in hell, 16 And it will be said (unto them): This is that which ye used to deny. 17 No indeed! Verily, the deeds of the virtuous shall be in the record of the exalted ones. 18 And what will explain to thee what 'Illiyun is? 19 (There is) a Register (fully) inscribed, 20 Which is witnessed by those brought near [to Allah]. 21 The virtuous will live in bliss, 22 On thrones, watching. 23 You shall see upon their faces the glow of bliss. 24 They will be given a drink of pure wine whereon the seal [of God] will have been set, 25 With a sealing of musk, which those who aspire for the best should desire, -- 26 and whose mixture is Tasnim, 27 a fountain at which those brought near (to their Lord) drink. 28 Indeed the guilty used to laugh at the believers. 29 when they passed by them they winked, 30 and when they returned to their own people, they would speak of them jestingly; 31 and whenever they see those [who believe,] they say: "Behold, these [people] have indeed gone astray!" 32 But they had not been sent as guardians over them. 33 Wherefore Today, those who believed at the infidels are laughing, 34 On high couches, gazing. 35 Will not the disbelievers then be duly recompensed for their laughing at the believers? 36
