The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ NEAR HAS COME the reckoning for men, but they turn away in remissness. 1 There cometh not unto them a fresh admonition from their Lord but they listen to it while they are playing. 2 their hearts are distracted and forgetful. The wrongdoers confer together secretly, saying, "Is not this man a mortal like you? Will you succumb to magic with your eyes open?" 3 He said: 'My Lord has knowledge of what is said in the heavens and on earth. He is the Hearer, the Knower' 4 Yet they say: "These are only confused dreams," or rather: "He has invented them;" or: "He is only a poet. Let him therefore bring a miracle to us as the earlier (apostles) were sent with." 5 Not one city that We destroyed before them believed; what then, will they not believe? 6 And We sent not before you (O Muhammad SAW) but men to whom We inspired, so ask the people of the Reminder [Scriptures - the Taurat (Torah), the Injeel (Gospel)] if you do not know. 7 We did not give them bodies that needed no food, nor were they to live forever. 8 Then We fulfilled to them the promise, and We saved them and those whom We willed, but We destroyed Al-Musrifun (i.e. extravagants in oppression, polytheism and in sin). 9 And assuredly We have sent down unto you a Book wherein is admonition for you; will ye not then reflect? 10
