۞ Surely We had bestowed wisdom upon Abraham even earlier, and We knew him well. 51 He said to his father and to his nation: 'What, are these the statues to which you cling' 52 They said:"We found our fathers worshipping them." 53 He said, "Indeed ye have been in manifest error - ye and your fathers." 54 They said: "Have you brought us the truth, or are you one of those who play about?" 55 He said: Nay, but your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, Who created them; and I am of those who testify unto that. 56 And, by Allah, I shall circumvent your idols after ye have gone away and turned your backs. 57 Then he broke them all into pieces, sparing only the supreme one among them that they may possibly return to him. 58 "Who has done this to our deities? He must be a wrongdoer." 59 They said, 'We heard a young man making mention of them, and he was called Abraham.' 60 They said: bring him then before the eyes of the people, haply they may bear witness. 61 They said: "Are you the one who has done this to our gods, O Ibrahim (Abraham)?" 62 He said: rather he hath wrought it, this big one of them; so question them, if they ever speak. 63 Thereupon they turned to their (inner) selves and said (to themselves): "Surely it is you who are the wrong-doers." 64 Then they were utterly put to confusion saying, 'Very well indeed thou knowest these do not speak.' 65 Abraham said: "Do you, then, worship beside Allah a thing that can neither benefit you nor hurt you? 66 Fie on you and those you worship besides God! Will you not understand?" 67 They said, “Burn him and help your Gods, if you want to.” 68 We said, "O Fire! be thou cool, and (a means of) safety for Abraham!" 69 They wished to entrap him, but We made them greater losers. 70 We took Abraham and Lot safely to the land in which We had sent blessings to the worlds. 71 And We bestowed upon him Isaac and [Isaac's son] Jacob as an additional gift and caused all of them to be righteous men, 72 and appointed them leaders to guide by Our Command and We revealed to them to do good deeds, and to establish the prayer, and the giving of charity, and they were for Us worshipers. 73 To Lot We gave wisdom and knowledge and delivered him from the city which practiced abomination. They were indeed a wicked people. 74 And We caused him to enter into Our mercy; verily he was of the righteous. 75

Notes and Instructions
قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
