The Believers (Al-Mu' minoon)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ Prosperous are the believers, 1 who are humble in their prayers; 2 And they who turn away from ill speech 3 and at almsgiving are active 4 Who abstain from sex, 5 Except with those joined to them in the marriage bond, or (the captives) whom their right hands possess,- for (in their case) they are free from blame, 6 But whoso craveth beyond that, such are transgressors - 7 Those who are faithfully true to their Amanat (all the duties which Allah has ordained, honesty, moral responsibility and trusts etc.) and to their covenants; 8 And who guard their prayers. 9 Such are the inheritors 10 that shall inherit Paradise; and in it they shall abide for ever. 11 NOW, INDEED, We create man out of the essence of clay, 12 and then We cause him to remain as a drop of sperm in [the wombs] firm keeping, 13 Then We fashioned the sperm into an embryo, then fashioned the embryo into a shapeless lump of flesh; then from the lump of flesh We fashioned bones, then clothed the bones with flesh. Thus We formed him into a new creation. So blessed be God the best of Creators. 14 After that, at length ye will die 15 and then on the Day of Resurrection you shall certainly be raised up. 16 And indeed, We have created above you seven [celestial] orbits: and never are We unmindful of [any aspect of Our] creation. 17 And We sent down water from the sky in proper measure, then stored it in the earth; and indeed We are Able to take it away! 18 And We brought forth for you thereby gardens of palm trees and grapevines in which for you are abundant fruits and from which you eat. 19 And We also produced the tree which springs forth from Mount Sinai, containing oil and sauce for those that eat. 20 There is a lesson for you concerning cattle. We provide you with drink from their bellies and many other benefits. You can consume them as meat. 21 And on them, as well as in ships, ye ride. 22
