And the chiefs of his people, who disbelieved and denied the Meeting in the Hereafter, and on whom We had bestowed the good things of this life, said: "He is no more than a man like yourselves: he eats of that of which ye eat, and drinks of what ye drink. 33 and, indeed, if you pay heed to a mortal like yourselves, you will surely be the losers! 34 Does he promise you that when you are dead and are reduced to dust and bones, you will be brought forth to life? 35 ۞ Such a promise will never come true. 36 There is nothing but our present life; we die, and we live, and we shall not be raised up. 37 He is only a man who has invented a lie about God, and we are not going to believe him!" 38 (The prophet) said: "O my Lord! help me: for that they accuse me of falsehood." 39 (Allah) said: "In a little while, they are sure to be regretful." 40 And the Cry seized them in justice and We made them withered. So begone with the harmdoing nation. 41 After them We brought another generation into existence. 42 no community can advance or postpone its appointed time, 43 Then sent We our messengers in succession: every time there came to a people their messenger, they accused him of falsehood: so We made them follow each other (in punishment): We made them as a tale (that is told): So away with a people that will not believe! 44 Thereafter We sent Musa and his brother Harun with Our signs and an authority manifest. 45 To Firon and his chiefs, but they behaved haughtily and they were an insolent people. 46 They said: "Shall we believe in two men like ourselves, and their people are obedient to us with humility (and we use them to serve us as we like)." 47 So they rejected them both, and became those who were destroyed. 48 And We gave Moses the Book, in order that they might receive guidance. 49 And We made the son of Maryam and his mother a sign; and We sheltered the twain on a height: a quiet abode and running water. 50
