And said the leaders of his people, who disbelieved and denied the confronting of the Hereafter – and We had given them comfort in the worldly life – that, “He is nothing but a human like you, he eats from what you eat and drinks from what you drink.” 33 and, indeed, if you pay heed to a mortal like yourselves, you will surely be the losers! 34 Does he promise you that, after you have died and become [mere] dust and bones, you shall be brought forth [to a new life]? 35 ۞ Away, away with that you are promised! 36 This is our only life. We live and will die but we will never be brought back to life again. 37 “He is just a man who has fabricated a lie against Allah, and we are not going to believe him.” 38 He said: My Lord! Help me because they deny me. 39 Allah said: after a little while they will become regretful. 40 So the (Awful) Cry overtook them rightfully, and We made them like as wreckage (that a torrent hurleth). A far removal for wrongdoing folk! 41 Then, after them, We brought forth other generations. 42 Every nation has an appointed life span. 43 Then sent We Our Messengers successively; whenever its Messenger came to a nation they cried him lies, so We caused some of them to follow others, and We made them as but tales; so away with a people who do not believe! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our miracles and clear proofs 45 to Pharaoh and his Council, but they were very proud, and they were a tyrannical nation. 46 They said, "Should we believe two men like ourselves while their people are for us in servitude?" 47 So they denied them, and became of those who were destroyed. 48 We gave the Book to Moses so that perhaps they may have guidance. 49 We made the son of Mary and his mother a sign, and gave them a refuge on a hillside where there was a hollow and a spring. 50
