The chiefs of the people who did not believe and denied the life to come, though We had given them good things of this life to enjoy, (said): "He is only a mortal like you. He eats as you do, and drinks as you drink. 33 "If ye obey a man like yourselves, behold, it is certain ye will be lost. 34 Does he promise you that when you are dead and are reduced to dust and bones, you will be brought forth to life? 35 ۞ Begone, begone, with that which ye are promised! 36 There is naught but our life in this world; we die and we live and we shall not be raised again. 37 He is only a man who has invented a lie about God, and we are not going to believe him!" 38 He said: my Lord! vindicate for they belie me. 39 Said Allah, “They will soon wake up at morn, regretting.” 40 So the (Awful) Cry overtook them rightfully, and We made them like as wreckage (that a torrent hurleth). A far removal for wrongdoing folk! 41 After them We brought another generation into existence. 42 Every nation has an appointed life span. 43 Then We sent Our Messengers in succession. Whenever a Messenger came to his people they rejected him, calling him a liar. Thereupon, We made each people to follow the other (to its doom), reducing them to mere tales (of the past). Scourged be the people who do not believe! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our tokens and a clear warrant 45 Towards Firaun and his court members – in response they were haughty, and they were in dominance. 46 They therefore said, “Shall we believe in two humans like ourselves, whereas their nation is servile to us?” 47 Thus, they gave the lie to those two, and earned (thereby) their place among the doomed: 48 And We gave the Book to Moses so that they may be guided. 49 And We made the son of Maryam and his mother a sign; and We sheltered the twain on a height: a quiet abode and running water. 50
