And said the chiefs of those who disbelieved among his people and belied the meeting of the Hereafter and whom We had luxuriated in the life of the world: this is no other than a human being like unto you; he eateth of that whereof ye eat, and he drinketh of that which ye drink. 33 If you were to obey a human being like yourselves, you will certainly be losers. 34 What! does he threaten you that when you are dead and become dust and bones that you shall then be brought forth? 35 ۞ Far, far is that which you are threatened with. 36 There is naught but our life in this world; we die and we live and we shall not be raised again. 37 "He is only a man who invents a lie against Allah, but we are not the ones to believe in him!" 38 (The apostle prayed): "O Lord, deliver me, for they accuse me of lies." 39 [And God] would say: "After a little while they will surely be smitten with remorse!" 40 Then the Blast overtook them with justice, and We made them as rubbish of dead leaves (floating on the stream of Time)! So away with the people who do wrong! 41 Then, after them, We brought forth other generations. 42 No people can hasten on their doom nor can they postpone (it). 43 Then We sent our messengers one after another. Whenever its messenger came unto a nation they denied him; so We caused them to follow one another (to disaster) and We made them bywords. A far removal for folk who believe not! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our signs and a clear authority 45 to Pharaoh and his courtiers, but they behaved insolently, for they were an arrogant people. 46 and they said, 'What, shall we believe two mortals like ourselves, whose people are our servants?' 47 So they accused them of falsehood, and they became of those who were destroyed. 48 We gave the Book to Moses so that perhaps they may have guidance. 49 And We made the son of Mary and his mother a portent, and We gave them refuge on a height, a place of flocks and watersprings. 50
