O ye messengers! Eat of the good things, and do right. Lo! I am Aware of what ye do. 51 Your nation is but one nation, and I am your Lord, therefore fear Me. 52 Then they cut their affair among them in regard to the Scriptures; each band in that which is with them rejoicing. 53 So leave them in their error for a time. 54 Do they think that We are helping them by giving them children and property? 55 We hasten in good works for them? No, they are not aware. 56 Those who tremble in fear of their Lord, 57 Those who believe in the Signs of their Lord; 58 And those who do not ascribe any partner to their Lord – 59 And those who give what they give (in alms) while their hearts are full of fear that to their Lord they must return, 60 it is they who vie with one another in doing good works, and it is they who outrun [all others] in attaining to them! 61 We charge no soul with more than it can bear. We have a record which clearly shows the truth and they will not be wronged. 62 Nay, their hearts are in overwhelming ignorance with respect to it and they have besides this other deeds which they do. 63 So that when We seize the affluent among them with affliction, they will begin to implore for help. 64 Cry not for succor this day; surely you shall not be given help from Us. 65 My revelations were recited unto you, but ye used to turn back on your heels, 66 and arrogantly mocked and reviled them. 67 Have they not pondered over the word of God? Has something come to them that did not come to their forefathers? 68 Or is it, perchance, that they have not recognized their Apostle, and so they disavow him? 69 Or say they: There is a madness in him? Nay, but he bringeth them the Truth; and most of them are haters of the Truth. 70 And had the Truth followed their desires, then indeed the heavens and the earth and all those who are in them would be destroyed; in fact We brought to them a thing in which lay their repute, so they are turned away from their own repute. 71 Or, is it that thou askest of them any maintenance? The maintenance of thy Lord is better, and He is the Best of providers. 72 (Muhammad), you certainly have called them to the right path, 73 But those who believe not in the Hereafter turn away from the straight path. 74 ۞ Even if We showed them mercy and relieved them of their afflictions, they would still persist in their transgression, wandering blindly. 75 We already seized them with the chastisement, yet they abased not themselves to their Lord nor were they humble; 76 Until, when We open for them the gate of extreme punishment, behold! they are aghast thereat. 77
