Al-Furqaan 4 of 6
We gave Moses the Book, and appointed his brother Aaron as his supporter. 35 Then We told them: "Go to the people who have rejected Our signs." Then We annihilated them completely. 36 And the people of Nuh! when they belied the apostles We drowned them, and made them a sign unto mankind. And We have gotten ready unto the wrong-doers a torment afflictive. 37 (As for) 'Ad, Thamud and the people of ar-Rass, and many generations in between them, 38 for each We struck similitudes, and each We ruined utterly. 39 And certainly they have (often) passed by the town on which was rained an evil rain; did they not then see it? Nay! they did not hope to be raised again. 40 Whenever they see you they only make a mockery of you -- "Is this the one God has sent as His Messenger? 41 Wellnigh he had led us astray from our gods, but that we kept steadfast to them.' Assuredly they shall know, when they see the chastisement, who is further astray from the way. 42 Have you seen the one who takes as his god his own desire? Then would you be responsible for him? 43 Do you think that most of them can hear or understand? They are like cattle, no, they are further astray from the Path. 44

Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
