And recall what time thy Lord called unto Musa, saying: go thou unto the wrong-doing people. 10 “The nation of Firaun; will they not fear?” 11 He said: "My Lord! Verily, I fear that they will belie me, 12 “I feel hesitant, and my tongue does not speak fast, therefore make Haroon also a Noble Messenger.” 13 They have charged me [with a crime] for which I am afraid they will kill me." 14 [Allah] said, "No. Go both of you with Our signs; indeed, We are with you, listening. 15 “Therefore approach Firaun then proclaim, ‘We both are Noble Messengers of the Lord Of The Creation.’ 16 that you let the Children of Israel go with us.'" 17 [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] said [to Musa (Moses)]: "Did we not bring you up among us as a child? And you did dwell many years of your life with us. 18 and you did the deed which you did. You are certainly ungrateful." 19 Moses said, "I did do it and I made a mistake. 20 Then I fled for fear of you. Then my Lord bestowed wisdom and authority on me and made me one of the Messengers. 21 That is a blessing thou reproachest me with, having enslaved the Children of Israel.' 22 Pharaoh said: And what is the Lord of the Worlds? 23 Moses answered: "The Lord of the heavens and the earth and of all that is between them, if you were only to believe." 24 Fir'awn said unto those around him: hear ye not? 25 [Moses] said, "Your Lord and the Lord of your first forefathers." 26 (The Pharaoh) said (to his nobles): "Your apostle who has been sent to you, is certainly mad." 27 [But Moses] went on: "[He of whom I speak is] the Sustainer of the east and the west and of all that is between the two - as you would know]" if you would but use your reason!" 28 (Pharaoh) said: "If thou dost put forward any god other than me, I will certainly put thee in prison!" 29 'What, even if I brought you something clear' said he (Moses). 30 Said he, 'Bring it then, if thou art of the truthful.' 31 Then he cast down his staff, and lo! it was a serpent manifest. 32 And he drew forth his hand and lo! it was white to the beholders. 33
