(Pharaoh) said to the Chiefs around him: "This is indeed a sorcerer well-versed: 34 He wants to drive you out of your land by his magic, so what do you advise?" 35 They said: "Keep him and his brother in suspense (for a while), and dispatch to the Cities heralds to collect- 36 "To bring up to you every well-versed sorcerer." 37 The sorcerers were gathered at the appointed time on a wellknown day, 38 and the people were asked: 'Will you gather 39 Haply we shall follow the sorcerers if it should be they are the victors.' 40 Now when the sorcerers came, they said unto Pharaoh: "Verily, we ought to have a great reward if it is we who prevail. 41 He said: Aye, and ye will then surely be of those brought near (to me). 42 Musa said unto them: cast whatsoever ye have to cast. 43 So they cast their ropes and staffs, saying: 'By Pharaoh's might, we shall be the victors' 44 Then Musa cast down his staff and lo! it swallowed up the lies they told. 45 Then the magicians fell prostrating in adoration, 46 They said, “We have accepted faith in the Lord Of The Creation.” 47 The Lord of Moses and Aaron." 48 The Pharaoh said, "You believed without my permission? He seems to be your chief who has taught you magic. But you will soon know (the result of what you have done). I shall certainly cut off your hands and feet on opposite sides and crucify you all together." 49 They answered: "No harm [canst thou do to us]: verily, unto our Sustainer do we turn! 50 “We hope that our Lord will forgive us our mistakes, as we are the first to believe.” 51
