Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 When he said to his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said: we worship idols, and we are unto them ever devoted 71 He said: Do they hear you when you call? 72 or can they benefit or harm you?" 73 They said, "No, but our fathers worshipped them." 74 He said: 'Have you considered what you worship, 75 you and your fathers, the elders? 76 They are enemies to me except the Lord of all the Worlds 77 Who hath created me, and He guideth me. 78 And He Who gives me to eat and gives me to drink: 79 and, whenever I am sick, heals me, 80 And Who causeth me to die, then giveth me life (again), 81 and whom I am eager shall forgive me my sins on the Day of Recompense' 82 "O my Sustainer! Endow me with the ability to judge [between right and wrong,] and make me one with the righteous, 83 And appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the latter. 84 Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss 85 Forgive my father. He has gone astray. 86 "And let me not be in disgrace on the Day when (men) will be raised up;- 87 The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children 88 except him who comes before Allah with a pure heart; 89 And the Garden shall be brought nigh to the God-fearing. 90 And the (Hell) Fire will be placed in full view of the erring. 91 They will be asked: "Where are those you worshipped 92 "'Besides Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?' 93 Then they will be thrown headlong into Hell, both they and the misguided ones, 94 and Satan's legions, all together. 95 They will say while they dispute therein, 96 'By Allah, we were certainly in clear error, 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 “And none misled us but the guilty.” 99 So none we have as intercessors. 100 no caring friend. 101 (Alas!) If we only had a chance to return (to the world), we shall truly be among the believers! 102 Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 103 surely, your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 104
