The people of Lot rejected the Messengers, branding them liars. 160 Their brother Lot asked them, "Why do you not have fear of God? 161 I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 162 "So fear Allah and obey me. 163 I do not ask any payment for my preaching. I shall receive my reward from the Lord of the Universe. 164 "Must you, of all people, [lustfully] approach men, 165 And leave the wives your Lord created for you? Nay, but ye are froward folk. 166 They said: "If you cease not. O Lout (Lot)! Verily, you will be one of those who are driven out!" 167 [Lot] exclaimed: "Behold, I am one of those who utterly abhor your doings!" 168 'My Lord, save me and my people from that they are doing' 169 So We delivered him and his followers all, 170 Except one old woman who remained behind. 171 Then We utterly destroyed the others. 172 And We rained on them a rain (of torment). And how evil was the rain of those who had been warned. 173 Indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not Muslims. 174 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 175
