Recite unto them the story of Abraham: 69 When he said to his father and his people: What do you worship? 70 They answered: "There are some idols that we worship and are devoted to them with constancy." 71 He said, “Do they hear you when you call?” 72 "Or do they benefit you or do they harm (you)?" 73 They said: "No. But we found our fathers doing so." 74 (Abraham) said, "Do you know that what you worship 75 you and your fathers, the elders? 76 Yet they are my enemies except the Lord of all the worlds 77 who has created me and is the One who guides me, 78 and He gives me to eat and drink, 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me, 80 Who will cause me to die and then will again restore me to life; 81 And who, I hope, will condone my faults on the Day of Judgement. 82 My Lord! Vouchsafe me wisdom and unite me to the righteous. 83 and appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the others. 84 and place me among those who shall inherit the garden of bliss! 85 Forgive me and my father: He was surely among those who went astray. 86 and disgrace me not on the Day when people will be raised to life, 87 "The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 Except him who brings to Allah a clean heart [clean from Shirk (polytheism) and Nifaq (hypocrisy)]. 89 And the Garden shall be brought nigh to the God-fearing. 90 And the hell shall be made manifest to the erring ones, 91 And it will be said to them, “Where are those whom you used to worship?” 92 besides God? Can they help you or even help themselves?" 93 Then they will be thrown on their faces into the (Fire), They and the Ghawun (devils, and those who were in error). 94 and the army of satan will all be thrown headlong into hell. 95 Disputing among themselves they will say: 96 "We were clearly misguided 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 It is none but those steeped in guilt who led us into this error, 99 “So now we do not have any intercessors.” (The believers shall have intercessors, the disbelievers none). 100 nor do we have a truly sincere friend. 101 But if we could but once return, we would be of the believers. 102 There is certainly a sign in that, but most of them would not believe: 103 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 104
