And recite to them the news of Abraham, 69 when he asked his father and others, "What do you worship?" 70 They answered: "There are some idols that we worship and are devoted to them with constancy." 71 He asked them, "Can the idols hear you when you pray to them 72 'Can they benefit you or harm you' 73 They said, 'Nay, but we found our fathers so doing.' 74 Said [Abraham]: "Have you, then, ever considered what it is that you have been worshipping 75 You and your ancient sires. 76 “They are all my enemies, except the Lord Of The Creation.” 77 who created me. It is He who guides me; 78 He Who feedeth me and giveth me to drink. 79 And heals me when I am sick, 80 Who will cause me to die and then will again restore me to life; 81 and He who will, I hope, forgive me my faults on the Day of the Judgement. 82 (And then Abraham prayed): "My Lord, endow me with knowledge and wisdom and join me with the righteous, 83 And appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the latter. 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Delight, 85 and forgive my father; for he is one of the misguided; 86 And humiliate me not on the Day whereon people shall be raised. 87 The day on which property will not avail, nor sons 88 "But only he (will prosper) that brings to Allah a sound heart; 89 "To the righteous, the Garden will be brought near, 90 And Hell made visible to those who had gone astray. 91 It will be said to them: 'Where is that you worshipped, 92 besides God? Will the idols help you? Can they help themselves?" 93 Thereupon they will be hurled into hell - they, as well as all [others] who had been lost in grievous error, 94 And the soldiers of Iblees, all together. 95 They will dispute between themselves therein, and will say, 96 "By Allah, we were indeed in manifest error 97 when we considered you equal to the Lord of the Universe. 98 And no one misguided us except the criminals. 99 We have no one to intercede for us before God 100 nor a loving friend. 101 If we could only return to the world and be among the believers." 102 Verily in this is a Sign but most of them do not believe. 103 surely, your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 104
