(The tribe of) A’ad denied the Noble Messengers. 123 When their fellowman Hud said to them, “Do you not fear?” 124 Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger. 125 So fear God and listen to me. 126 And I ask of you no wage therefor; my wage is the concern only of the Lord of the Worlds. 127 What, you build a monument on every hill merely for fun 128 "And do you get for yourselves palaces (fine buildings) as if you will live therein for ever. 129 And if ye seize by force, seize ye as tyrants? 130 So fear Allah and obey me. 131 And be careful of (your duty to) Him Who has given you abundance of what you know. 132 He has bestowed on you cattle, and sons, 133 "And Gardens and Springs. 134 'Indeed, I fear for you the chastisement of a dreadful day.' 135 They said: It is all one to us whether thou preachest or art not of those who preach; 136 This is but a fable of the men of old, 137 And we shall not be doomed. 138 In response they denied him – We therefore destroyed them; indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not believers. 139 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 140
