The tribe of Ad rejected the Messengers. 123 When their brother Hud said to them: "Will you not fear Allah and obey Him? 124 I am a trustworthy messenger for you: 125 "So fear Allah and obey me. 126 And I ask of you no hire therefor: my hire is but with the Lord of the worlds. 127 Do you build over each high place a sign to amuse yourselves! 128 "And do ye get for yourselves fine buildings in the hope of living therein (for ever)? 129 And when you lay hands (on men) you lay hands (like) tyrants; 130 “Therefore fear Allah, and obey me.” 131 And fear He who provided you with that which you know, 132 Who has provided you with flocks and children 133 "And Gardens and Springs. 134 I fear for you the chastisement of an Awesome Day." 135 They replied: "It is all the same for us whether you admonish us or not. 136 This is but a fable of the men of old, 137 "And we are not the ones to receive Pains and Penalties!" 138 So they rejected him; and We destroyed them. There is certainly a sign in that; but most of them would not believe. 139 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 140
