The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30

عند قراءة القرآن الملون في وضعية اللغة العربية المرسومة بالأحرف الإنجليزية، قد لا تلاحظ وجود منظومة برمجية مصممة لمطابقة متطلبات علامات الوقف في النص العربي الأصلي. فكما تعلم، يحتوي القرآن على خمسة أنواع رئيسية من علامات الوقف. (1) وقف لازم، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي نقطة وقف. (2) وقف جائز مع الوقف أولى، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة قد تظهر باحتمال الثلثين. When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
