Ad cried lies to the Envoys 123 Behold, their brother Hud said to them: "Will ye not fear (Allah)? 124 "I am to you a messenger worthy of all trust: 125 Therefore guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me: 126 I do not ask for any payment for my preaching. I shall receive my reward from the Lord of the Universe. 127 "Do you build useless monuments on every mountain 128 and erect huge palaces as though you will live for ever, 129 And whenever you apply force become tyrannical. 130 So be fearful of God and follow me. 131 fear Him who has aided you with all that you know -- 132 Gave you increase of cattle and sons, 133 gardens, and springs. 134 I fear for you the chastisement of an Awesome Day." 135 They replied, "It makes no difference to us whether you preach or do not preach, 136 This is not but the custom of the former peoples, 137 and we shall not be punished." 138 And they denied him; therefor We destroyed them. Lo! herein is indeed a portent, yet most of them are not believers. 139 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 140
