'Ad (people) belied the Messengers. 123 Their brother Hud said to them, "Will you not fear God? 124 I am a trustworthy Messengers sent to you. 125 So fear Allah and obey me. 126 "And no reward whatever do I ask of you for it: my reward rests with none but the Sustainer of all the worlds. 127 Build ye on every high place a monument for vain delight? 128 And take for yourselves palaces and fortresses that you might abide eternally? 129 and when you strike you strike like tyrants? 130 "So fear Allah, keep your duty to Him, and obey me. 131 And be careful of (your duty to) Him Who has given you abundance of what you know. 132 Who has provided you with flocks and children 133 "And Gardens and Springs. 134 for, verily, I fear lest suffering befall you on an awesome day!" 135 They said: It is the same to us whether you admonish or are not one of the admonishers 136 This is not but the custom of the former peoples, 137 And we are not going to be tormented. 138 And they denied him; therefor We destroyed them. Lo! herein is indeed a portent, yet most of them are not believers. 139 Surely your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 140
