The Thamud accused the messengers of lies. 141 Their brother Salih said to them: 'Will you not be cautious? 142 "I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 143 “Therefore fear Allah and obey me.” 144 "No reward do I ask of you for it (my Message of Islamic Monotheism), my reward is only from the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 145 "Will ye be left secure, in (the enjoyment of) all that ye have here? 146 amidst gardens and springs 147 The fields of corn and date-palm trees with soft and tender spathes, 148 “And you carve out dwellings in the mountains, with skill?” 149 So fear God and obey me: 150 "And follow not the bidding of those who are extravagant,- 151 "Who make mischief in the land, and mend not (their ways)." 152 They said, "You are only of those affected by magic. 153 thou art naught but a mortal, like us; then produce a sign, if thou art one of the truthful.' 154 He said, 'This is a she-camel; to her a draught and to you a draught, on a day appointed, 155 so do her no harm, or the punishment of an awful day will befall you." 156 But they hamstrung her and then regretted it. 157 And the punishment seized them. Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 158 Verily Your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Most Compassionate. 159
