Thamud denied the messengers 141 When their brother Saleh said to them: "Will you not take heed?" 142 Surely I am a faithful apostle to you 143 So fear Allah and obey me. 144 And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds. 145 Will you be left secure in what is here; 146 “In gardens and water springs?” 147 And cornfields and palm-trees having fine spadices? 148 carving comfortable houses out of the mountains? 149 So fear Allah and obey me. 150 Do not obey the orders of the transgressors 151 Who make mischief in the land and do not act aright. 152 They replied: 'Surely, you are one of those bewitched. 153 You are nothing but a man like us. Bring us a token if you speak the truth." 154 He said, "Here is a she-camel. She shall have her turn of drinking, as you have yours, each on an appointed day, 155 and do her no harm, lest suffering befall you on an awesome day!" 156 But they ham-strung her: then did they become full of regrets. 157 But the Penalty seized them. Verily in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe. 158 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 159
