The people of Lot cried lies to the Envoys 160 When their brother Lot said to them: "Will you not take heed? 161 "Verily! I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 162 so fear you God, and obey you me. 163 "And no reward whatever do I ask of you for it: my reward rests with none but the Sustainer of all the worlds. 164 What, do you come to the males of the world, 165 And leave ye your spouses your Lord hath created for you? Aye! ye are a people trespassing. 166 They said, "Lot, if you do not give up preaching, you will certainly be expelled (from this town)". 167 He said: Surely I am of those who utterly abhor your doing; 168 My Lord, save me and my family from their evil doings." 169 So We delivered him and his household all. 170 all but an old woman, who was among those that stayed behind; 171 Thereafter, We utterly destroyed the rest, 172 We rained down on them a shower (of brimstone): and evil was the shower on those who were admonished (but heeded not)! 173 Lo! herein is indeed a portent, yet most of them are not believers. 174 And most surely your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful. 175
