The dwellers of the Thicket belied their Messengers. 176 Shu'ayb said to them, "Will you not fear God? 177 I am for you a faithful Messenger, so fear you God, and obey you me. 178 “Therefore fear Allah and obey me.” 179 And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds. 180 ۞ Give full measure and do not cheat; 181 and weigh with the straight scale, 182 And defraud not people of their things, and commit not corruption on the earth. 183 but be conscious of Him who has created you, just as [He created] those countless generations of old!" 184 They said: Thou art but one of the bewitched; 185 And you are naught but a mortal like ourselves, and we know you to be certainly of the liars. 186 “Therefore cause a part of the sky to fall upon us, if you are of the truthful.” 187 Answered [Shu'ayb]: "My Sustainer knows fully well what you are doing." 188 But they rejected him. Then the punishment of a day of overshadowing gloom seized them, and that was the Penalty of a Great Day. 189 In this [story,] behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 190 Verily Your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Most Compassionate. 191
