And lo! it is a revelation of the Lord of the Worlds, 192 The Trustworthy Spirit has brought it down 193 upon thy heart, that thou mayest be one of the warners, 194 In plain Arabic speech. 195 And lo! it is in the Scriptures of the men of old. 196 Is it not a sign unto them that the learned among the Children of Isra'il know it? 197 Had We revealed it to any of the non-Arabs, 198 And he had recited it to them, and they had not believed (it would have been different). 199 This is how We have made (the habit of) denying embedded in the hearts of the guilty. 200 They will not believe in it until they see the painful torment; 201 so that it will come upon them suddenly, while they are not aware, 202 they say: "Can we be granted some respite?" 203 So do they wish to hasten Our punishment? 204 Hast thou then seen, if We content them for (long) years, 205 Yet there comes to them at length the (Punishment) which they were promised! 206 They would not be availed by the enjoyment with which they were provided. 207 We never destroyed a village that did not have warners 208 for a reminder, and We never harmed. 209 And [this divine writ is such a reminder:] no evil spirits have brought it down: 210 They are not worthy of it, nor have they power. 211 Indeed they are debarred from even hearing it. 212 Hence, [O man,] do not invoke any other deity side by side with God, lest thou find thyself among those who are made to suffer [on Judgment Day]. 213 And warn thou thy clan, the nearest ones. 214 And lower thou thy wing unto those who follow thee as believers. 215 And if they disobey thee, say thou: verily I am quit of that which ye work. 216 Have trust in the Mighty, the Merciful, 217 who sees you when you stand 218 And your movements among those who bow in homage to God. 219 Surely He is the Hearing, the Knowing. 220 Shall I tell you on whom the satans descend? 221 They come down to every mendacious sinner, 222 The devils convey upon them what they heard, but most of them are liars. 223 As for the poets, only those who go astray follow them. 224 See you not that they speak about every subject (praising others right or wrong) in their poetry? 225 and that they [so often] say what they do not do [or feel]? 226 Save those who believe and do good works, and remember Allah much, and vindicate themselves after they have been wronged. Those who do wrong will come to know by what a (great) reverse they will be overturned! 227
God the Almighty always says the truth.
