And lo! it is a revelation of the Lord of the Worlds, 192 The honest Spirit (Gabriel) brought it down 193 upon thy heart, that thou mayest be one of the warners, 194 It has been revealed in plain Arabic. 195 And most surely the same is in the scriptures of the ancients. 196 Is it not a sign to them that the learned men of the Israelites know it? 197 And had We sent it down upon a person other than an Arab, 198 And had he recited it to them, they would not have believed in it. 199 Thus have We caused it to enter the hearts of the sinners. 200 They will not believe it until they behold the painful punishment. 201 The torment will strike them suddenly without their knowledge. 202 Then they will say: Shall we be respited? 203 What, do they seek to hasten Our chastisement? 204 Therefore observe, that if We give them some comforts for some years, – 205 and then the chastisement of which they were being warned were to come upon them, 206 of what avail will be the provisions of life which they have been granted to enjoy? 207 We never destroyed any town without first sending to them warning and guidance. 208 to admonish them. We have never been unjust. 209 No evil ones have brought down this (Revelation): 210 They are not worthy of it, nor have they power. 211 They have been precluded from hearing it. 212 So call thou not upon another god with God, lest thou shouldst be one of those that are chastised. 213 And warn your near relations, 214 And be kind and humble to the believers who follow you. 215 If they disobey you, say, "I bear no responsibility for what you do." 216 And rely thou upon the Mighty, the Merciful. 217 Who watches you when you stand up. 218 And thy movements among those who fall prostrate. 219 Surely, He is the Hearer, the Knower. 220 Shall I inform you upon whom the devils descend? 221 They descend on every guilty impostor. 222 The devils convey upon them what they heard, but most of them are liars. 223 And as for the poets -- it is the misled who follow them. 224 Seest thou not that they wander distracted in every valley?- 225 and that they [so often] say what they do not do [or feel]? 226 The righteously striving believers among them who remember God very often and use their talent to seek help after they have been wronged are the exceptional. The unjust will soon know how terrible their end will be. 227
