And most surely this is a revelation from the Lord of the worlds. 192 brought down by the Faithful Spirit 193 Upon thy heart, that thou mayest be of the warners, 194 It has been revealed in plain Arabic. 195 Without doubt it is (announced) in the mystic Books of former peoples. 196 Is it not a sign to them that the learned scholars (like 'Abdullah bin Salam who embraced Islam) of the Children of Israel knew it (as true)? 197 But [even] had We bestowed it from on high upon any of the non-Arabs, 198 and he had recited it to them, they would not have believed. 199 Thus have We caused it to enter the hearts of the sinners. 200 they will not believe in it till they behold the grievous suffering 201 It shall come unto them on a sudden, and they shall not perceive. 202 Then they will say: "Can we be respited?" 203 So for Our punishment are they impatient? 204 What thinkest thou? If We give them enjoyment of days for many years, 205 and thereupon that [chastisement] which they were promised befalls them 206 That which they were made to enjoy shall not avail them? 207 We never destroyed any town without first sending to them warning and guidance. 208 By way of reminder, and We have never been unjust. 209 The devils did not bring it down: 210 it behoves them not, neither are they able. 211 Indeed they have been removed far from even (a chance of) hearing it. 212 So do not call on any deity besides God, lest you incur His punishment. 213 And warn, [O Muhammad], your closest kindred. 214 and spread the wings of thy tenderness over all of the believers who may follow thee; 215 And if they disobey you, then say, "Indeed, I am disassociated from what you are doing." 216 And put thy trust on the Exalted in Might, the Merciful,- 217 Who sees you when you arise 218 and [sees] thy behaviour among those who prostrate themselves [before Him]: 219 Verily He! He is the Hearer, the Knower. 220 Shall I inform you upon whom do the devils descend? 221 They descend on every lying, wicked person, 222 They incline their ears, and most of them are liars. 223 And the poets - [only] the deviators follow them; 224 Seest thou not that they wander distracted in every valley?- 225 preaching what they do not practice. 226 except those who believed and acted righteously and remembered Allah much, and when they themselves were subjected to wrong, they exacted retribution no more than to the extent of the wrong? Soon will the wrong-doers know the end that they shall reach. 227
