The Spider (Al-Ankaboot)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Alif. Lam. Mim. 1 Do people think they will not be tested because they say, "We have faith?" 2 Yea, indeed, We did test those who lived before them; and so, [too, shall be tested the people now living: and] most certainly will God mark out those who prove themselves true, and most certainly will He mark out those who are lying. 3 Or those who do evil deeds think that they can outstrip Us (i.e. escape Our Punishment)? Evil is that which they judge! 4 He who hopes to meet Allah (must know) that the term of Allah is coming. He is the Hearer, the Knower. 5 And whoever strives hard, he strives only for his own soul; most surely Allah is Self-sufficient, above (need of) the worlds. 6 And those who believe, and do righteous deeds, We shall surely acquit them of their evil deeds, and shall recompense them the best of what they were doing. 7 We have charged the human to be kind to his parents. But if they bid you to associate with Me that which you have no knowledge, do not obey them. To Me you will return, and I shall inform you of all that you have done. 8 We shall surely admit those who believe and do good deeds to the company of the righteous. 9 Of mankind are some who say: "We believe in Allah," but if they are made to suffer for the sake of Allah, they consider the trial of mankind as Allah's punishment, and if victory comes from your Lord, (the hypocrites) will say: "Verily! We were with you (helping you)." Is not Allah Best Aware of what is in the breast of the 'Alamin (mankind and jinns). 10 God certainly knows all about the believers and the hypocrites. 11 The unbelievers say to the believers: “Follow our way and we will carry the burden of your sins.” (They say so even though) they are not going to carry any part of their sins. Surely they are lying. 12 And most certainly they shall carry their own burdens, and other burdens with their own burdens, and most certainly they shall be questioned on the resurrection day as to what they forged. 13
