The Romans (Al-Room)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Alif-Lam-Mim. 1 The Byzantines have been defeated 2 in a nearby land. They will reverse their defeat with a victory 3 In a few years (less than ten). God's is the imperative first and last. On that day the believers will rejoice 4 with the help of God. He helps whom He pleases: He is the Mighty, and the Merciful. 5 This is Allah's promise; and Allah faileth not His promise. Yet most men know not. 6 they know but the outer surface of this world's life, whereas of the ultimate things they are utterly unaware. 7 Have they not thought that God has not created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them but for a genuine purpose to exist for an appointed term? Many people do not believe in their meeting with their Lord. 8 Have they not travelled through the land and seen what end their predecessors met? They were mightier than them: they cultivated the earth more and built more upon it than these have ever built. Their own messengers also came to them with clear signs: God did not wrong them; they wronged themselves. 9 The end of the evil-doers was terrible, for they had rejected the revelations of God and mocked them. 10
