The Romans (Al-Room)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ ALIF LAM MIM. 1 The Byzantians have been overcome. 2 In the nearer land (Syria, Iraq, Jordan, and Palestine), and they, after their defeat, will be victorious. 3 in a few years. To God belongs the Command before and after, and on that day the believers shall rejoice 4 He helps whomever He wants. He is Majestic and All-merciful. 5 [This is] God's promise. Never does God fail to fulfill His promise - but most people know [it] not: 6 they know but the outer surface of this world's life, whereas of the ultimate things they are utterly unaware. 7 Do they not think for themselves that God did not create the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them without reason and a determined purpose? But many men reject the meeting with their Lord. 8 Have they not travelled in the earth and seen how was the end of those before them? They were stronger than these in prowess, and dug up the earth, and built on it in greater abundance than these have built on it, and there came to them their apostles with clear arguments; so it was not beseeming for Allah that He should deal with them unjustly, but they dealt unjustly with their own souls. 9 Evil was the end of the harmdoers, because they belied the verses of Allah and mocked at them. 10
