Luqmaan (Luqmaan)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
A. L. M. 1 These are verses of the wise Book, 2 a guidance and mercy for the doers of good, 3 Those who keep the prayer established and pay the charity and accept faith in the Hereafter. 4 Those are guided by their Lord and will surely prosper. 5 And of mankind is he who payeth for mere pastime of discourse, that he may mislead from Allah's way without knowledge, and maketh it the butt of mockery. For such there is a shameful doom. 6 Whenever Our messages are conveyed to such a person, he turns away in his arrogance, as though he had not heard them -- as though his ears were sealed: give him, then, the tidings of grievous suffering [in the life to come]. 7 Lo! those who believe and do good works, for them are the gardens of delight, 8 where they shall live for ever. The promise of Allah is the truth; He is the Almighty, the Wise. 9 He [it is who] has created the skies without any supports that you could see, and has placed firm mountains upon the earth, lest it sway with you, and has caused all manner of living creatures to multiply thereon. And We send down water from the skies, and thus We cause every noble kind [of life] to grow on earth. 10 Such is Allah's creation. Show me, then, what any others, apart from Allah, have created. Nay, the fact is that the wrong-doers are in manifest error. 11
