The Parties (Al-Ahzaab)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ O Prophet, fear Allah, and do not obey the unbelievers and the hypocrites. Allah is the Knower, the Wise. 1 But follow that which comes to thee by inspiration from thy Lord: for Allah is well acquainted with (all) that ye do. 2 Trust in God and be sure that He is a Sufficient Guardian. 3 God has not placed two hearts in any man's body, nor has He made your wives -- from whom you keep away by saying, "Be as my mother's back" -- your [real] mothers, neither He has made your adopted sons as your own sons. These are merely words which you utter with your mouths: but God speaks the truth and gives guidance to the right path. 4 Call them after their own fathers; that is closer to justice in the sight of God. If you do not know their fathers, regard them as your brothers in faith and your proteges. You will not be blamed if you make a mistake, you will be held accountable only for what in your hearts you have done intentionally. God is forgiving and merciful. 5 The Prophet has a greater claim on the faithful than they have on themselves, and his wives are (as) their mothers; and the possessors of relationship have the better claim in the ordinance of Allah to inheritance, one with respect to another, than (other) believers, and (than) those who have fled (their homes), except that you do some good to your friends; this is written in the Book. 6 And remember O dear Prophet (Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) when We took a covenant from the Prophets – and from you – and from Nooh, and Ibrahim, and Moosa, and Eisa the son of Maryam; and We took a firm covenant from them. 7 That He may question the truthful of their truth, and He has prepared for the unbelievers a painful punishment. 8
