A token unto them is the dead earth. We revive it, and We bring forth from it grain so that they eat thereof; 33 We made in it gardens of date-palms and vines, and We caused springs to gush forth 34 so that they may eat of the fruit thereof, though it was not their hands that made it. Will they not, then, be grateful? 35 Hallowed be He who hath created all the pairs of that which the earth groweth, and of themselves and of that which they know not! 36 And there is a sign in the night for them. We strip off the day from it and they are left in darkness, 37 The sun runs to its fixed resting place; that is the decree of the Almighty, the Knower. 38 And the moon - We have determined for it phases, until it returns [appearing] like the old date stalk. 39 The sun cannot overtake the moon, nor can the night outpace the day: each floats in [its own] orbit. 40 And a sign for them is that We carried their forefathers in a laden ship. 41 And We have created for them similar (vessels) on which they ride. 42 If it were Our will, We could drown them: then there would be no helper [to hear their cry], nor could they be saved. 43 except through Our Mercy and as enjoyment for awhile. 44 Whenever they are told to guard themselves against sin and the forth coming torment so that perhaps they could receive mercy 45 And never came an Ayah from among the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of their Lord to them, but they did turn away from it. 46 And when it is said to them: "Spend of that with which Allah has provided you," those who disbelieve say to those who believe: "Shall we feed those whom, if Allah willed, He (Himself) would have fed? You are only in a plain error." 47 Further, they say, "When will this promise (come to pass), if what ye say is true?" 48 They await not but one shout, which shall lay hold of them while they are yet wrangling. 49 And they will not be able [to give] any instruction, nor to their people can they return. 50
