۞ [And God will thus command:] "Assemble all those who were bent on evildoing, together with others of their ilk and [with] all that they were wont to worship 22 besides God, and show them the way of hell. 23 and stop them there for questioning: 24 What aileth you that ye succour not one another? 25 Nay, but this day they make full submission. 26 but [since it will be too late,] they will turn upon one another, demanding of each other [to relieve them of the burden of their past sins]. 27 Saying: "It were you who imposed yourselves upon us." 28 Others will respond, "It was you who did not want to have any faith. 29 We had no power over you. You were a rebellious people, 30 Now the Word of our Lord hath been fulfilled concerning us. Lo! we are about to taste (the doom). 31 So we led you astray; we ourselves were strayed.” 32 Therefore, on that Day they will all share Our punishment. 33 Verily, thus shall We deal with all who were lost in sin: 34 for when it was said to them, 'There is no god but God,' they were ever waxing proud, 35 and replied, "Shall we then give up our deities at the bidding of a mad poet?" 36 In fact he has brought the Truth, and testified for the Noble Messengers! 37 Verily ye are going to taste a torment afflictive. 38 And you will not be recompensed except for what you used to do - 39 Save the chosen slaves of Allah (faithful, obedient, true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 40 will have their determined sustenance 41 Fruits; and they will be honoured. 42 (They will live) in the bountiful gardens, 43 seated on couches, facing one another. 44 a cup filled with wine from its springs, will be passed around to them; 45 White, delicious for the drinkers. 46 Neither dulling the senses nor intoxicating, 47 and with them wide-eyed maidens restraining their glances 48 As if they were (delicate) eggs closely guarded. 49 Then shall some of them advance to others, questioning each other. 50 One of them will say: “I had a companion in the world 51 who used to ask, 'Do you really believe that 52 (Do you think) we would be paid back our due when we are dead and reduced to dust and bones?' 53 (The man) said: "Will you look down?" 54 and then he looks and sees that [companion of his] in the midst of the blazing fire, 55 He will say to him: -- By Allah, you almost ruined me. 56 for had it not been for my Sustainer's favour, I would surely be [now] among those who are given over [to suffering]! 57 (Allah informs about that true believer that he said): "Are we then not to die (any more)? 58 Save our first death, and are we not to be tormented? 59 Indeed, this is the mighty victory, 60 For the like of this, then, let the workers work. 61 Is that better by way of hospitality or the Zaqqum tree, 62 Which We have reserved as punishment for evil-doers? 63 For it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hell-Fire: 64 its fruit [as repulsive] as satans' heads; 65 And verily they must eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith. 66 Then most surely they shall have after it to drink of a mixture prepared in boiling water. 67 then their return is to Hell. 68 They found their fathers had gone astray; 69 So they hastened [to follow] in their footsteps. 70 And assuredly there went stray before them many of the ancients. 71 And We had already sent among them warners. 72 Observe, then, what was the end of those that had been warned, 73 Except the chosen slaves of Allah (faithful, obedient, and true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 74
