۞ Gather together those who were unjust and their associates, and what they used to worship 22 Instead of Allah, and lead them to the path to hell; 23 “And stop them – they are to be questioned.” 24 "How is it that [now] you cannot succour one another?" 25 Nay! on that Day they will be entirely submissive. 26 And some of them inclined towards others, mutually questioning. 27 They will say: "It was you who used to come to us from the right side [i.e. from the right side of one of us and beautify for us every evil, order us for polytheism, and stop us from the truth i.e. Islamic Monotheism and from every good deed]." 28 [To which] the others will reply: "Nay, you yourselves were bereft of all faith! 29 we had no authority over you; no, you were an insolent people. 30 But now our Lord's word has come true against us: truly, we are bound to taste [the punishment]. 31 So we led you astray, for we ourselves were erring. 32 So, they will become partners in punishment. 33 This is how We deal with the criminals. 34 Whenever it was said to them: “There is no true deity apart from Allah,” they waxed proud 35 And (they) said: "Are we going to abandon our aliha (gods) for the sake of a mad poet? 36 "Surely, he has brought the truth, confirming those who were sent before; 37 Most surely you will taste the painful punishment. 38 And you will not be recompensed except for what you used to do - 39 But not the chosen servants of Allah. 40 [in the hereafter,] theirs shall be a sustenance which they will recognize 41 Fruits (Delights); and they (shall enjoy) honour and dignity, 42 In gardens of pleasure 43 facing one another [in love] upon thrones of happiness. 44 Round them will be passed a cup of pure wine; 45 white, a delight to the drinkers, 46 wherein no sickness is, neither intoxication; 47 And with them shall be those who restrain the eyes, having beautiful eyes; 48 as if they were hidden pearls. 49 And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other. 50 A speaker of them will say: "Verily, I had a companion (in the world), 51 Who used to say: 'Are you one of those who can testify to the truth? 52 (Do you think) we would be paid back our due when we are dead and reduced to dust and bones?' 53 (The man) said: "Will you look down?" 54 Then, he will look and see him in the midst of Hell. 55 and says: "By God! Verily, thou hast almost destroyed me [too, O my erstwhile companion] 56 But for my Lord's blessing, I were one of the arraigned. 57 What, do we then not die 58 except for our first death? And shall we suffer no chastisement?'” 59 Truly, this is a great victory!" 60 For such a reward should the workers perform. 61 Is that better as a hospitality, or the Tree of Ez-Zakkoum? 62 Truly We have made it (as) a trail for the Zalimun (polytheists, disbelievers, wrong-doers, etc.). 63 Verily it is a tree that springeth forth in the bottom of Flaming Fire. 64 The shoots of its fruit-stalks are like the heads of Shayatin (devils); 65 and they [who are lost in evil] are indeed bound to eat thereof, and to fill their bellies therewith. 66 then in addition to it they shall have a draught of boiling water to drink; 67 Then their return will be to the same blazing Hell. 68 They had found their fathers astray, 69 and they are running in their footsteps. 70 And assuredly many of the ancients went astray before them, 71 although, verily, We had sent warners unto them: 72 Then see the nature of the consequence for those warned, 73 Only Our sincere servants were saved. 74
