۞ (Then will the command be given): “Muster all the wrong-doers and their spouses and the deities whom they used to serve 22 other than Allah, and guide them to the Path of Hell! 23 and halt them [there]!" [And then,] behold, they shall be asked, 24 "Why help you not one another?" 25 No indeed; but today they resign themselves in submission 26 And some of them will confront the others, 27 They will say: "It was you who used to come to us from the right side [i.e. from the right side of one of us and beautify for us every evil, order us for polytheism, and stop us from the truth i.e. Islamic Monotheism and from every good deed]." 28 They answer: Nay, but ye (yourselves) were not believers. 29 And we had over you no authority, but you were a transgressing people. 30 So the sentence of our Lord has come to pass against us: (now) we shall surely taste; 31 We led you astray as we were ourselves astray." 32 On that Day, they will all share the chastisement. 33 This is how We deal with the criminals. 34 for when it was said to them, 'There is no god but God,' they were ever waxing proud, 35 and said: 'Are we to renounce our gods for the sake of a mad poet' 36 In fact, he had brought them the truth and had acknowledged the Messengers (who were sent before him). 37 Lo! (now) verily ye taste the painful doom - 38 although you shall not be requited for aught but what you were wont to do. 39 But the chosen servants of God; 40 For them is the sustenance known to Us. 41 as the fruits [of their life on earth]; and honoured shall they be 42 In Gardens of Delight. 43 seated on couches, facing one another. 44 a cup filled with wine from its springs, will be passed around to them; 45 white, a delight to the drinkers, 46 wherein no sickness is, neither intoxication; 47 and with them wide-eyed maidens restraining their glances 48 As if they were (delicate) eggs closely guarded. 49 And some of them draw near unto others, mutually questioning. 50 A speaker from among them shall say: Surely I had a comrade of mine, 51 “Who used to tell me, ‘Do you believe it is true?’ – 52 That when we have died and become dust and bones, we will indeed be recompensed?'" 53 He says, 'Are you looking down?' 54 Then he will look and see him in the midst of the Fire. 55 And he will say: by Allah, thou hadst wellnigh causedest me to perish. 56 for had it not been for my Sustainer's favour, I would surely be [now] among those who are given over [to suffering]! 57 (Allah informs about that true believer that he said): "Are we then not to die (any more)? 58 Other than our first death, and we shall not be punished? 59 This is indeed the mighty triumph, 60 For the like of this, then, let them labour, those who labour [in God's way]! 61 Is that better by way of hospitality or the Zaqqum tree, 62 which We have made as a test for the wrongdoers. 63 Verily, it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hell-fire, 64 and its fruits are like devils' heads. 65 So indeed they will eat from it, and fill their bellies with it. 66 And afterward, lo! thereupon they have a drink of boiling water 67 And afterward, lo! their return is surely unto hell. 68 Truly they found their fathers on the wrong Path; 69 So they in their footsteps are rushing. 70 And certainly most of the ancients went astray before them, 71 And We had sent admonishers to them. 72 Then see what was the end of those who were warned (but heeded not). 73 Not so the chosen servants of God. 74
