The dwellers of Al-Aiyka [near Madyan (Midian)] belied the Messengers. 176 Recall, when Shuayb said to them: "Have you no fear? 177 Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger. 178 so fear God, and obey me. 179 And I ask of you no hire therefor; and my hire is but with the Lord of the worlds. 180 ۞ "Maintain just measure in your business and do not cause loss to others. 181 And weigh with a balance straight. 182 and do not deprive people of what is rightfully theirs; and do not act wickedly on earth by spreading corruption, 183 “And fear Him Who created you and the earlier creations.” 184 They replied: 'You are surely one of those bewitched. 185 thou art naught but a mortal, like us; indeed, we think that thou art one of the liars. 186 Therefore cause a portion of the heaven to come down upon us, if you are one of the truthful. 187 Answered [Shu'ayb]: "My Sustainer knows fully well what you are doing." 188 But they called him a liar, so the punishment of the day of covering overtook them; surely it was the punishment of a grievous day. 189 Surely, in that there is a sign; yet most of them do not believe. 190 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 191
