And verily Yunus was of the sent ones. 139 When he fled on the laden ship, 140 And then drew lots and was of those rejected; 141 And a fish swallowed him, and he was reproaching himself. 142 Had he not glorified God, 143 he would have lingered in its belly till the Day they are resurrected. 144 ۞ Then We cast him on a desert shore while he was sick; 145 And We caused a tree of gourd to grow above him; 146 And We sent him to [his people of] a hundred thousand or more. 147 They believed in him so We granted them enjoyment for an appointed time. 148 Now ask them if their Lord has daughters, and they sons? 149 Or did We create the angels females while they were witnesses? 150 Now surely it is of their own lie that they say: 151 'Allah has begotten' They are truly liars. 152 Has He chosen daughters in preference to sons? 153 What is the matter with you, how is it that you judge? 154 Will you not then reflect? 155 Or is there for you a plain authority? 156 Then bring ye your Book (of authority) if ye be truthful! 157 They claim that He has kinship with the jinn, yet the jinn themselves know that they will be produced before Him [for judgement]. 158 Hallowed be Allah from that which they ascribe to Him. 159 but not so the true servants of God, 160 You and whatever you worship 161 can cause anyone to fall prey to your temptation 162 except him who shall roast in the Blazing Fire. 163 [The angels say], "Every single one of us has his place assigned: 164 And verily we! we are ranged in ranks. 165 Verily, we (angels), we are they who glorify (Allah's Praises i.e. perform prayers). 166 And they surely were wont to say: 167 If we had but a reminder from the men of old 168 we would surely have been God's chosen servants," 169 Yet they disbelieve therein. Presently they shall come to know. 170 And Our word has already preceded for Our servants, the messengers, 171 That they would certainly be assisted, 172 and that it is Our host that would certainly triumph. 173 Therefore turn away from them for some time. 174 And see [what will befall] them, for they are going to see. 175 Do they seek to hasten Our chastisement? 176 Then, when it descends into their courtyard (i.e. near to them), evil will be the morning for those who had been warned! 177 Stay away from them for a while 178 and watch. They, too, will watch. 179 Exalted be your Lord, the Lord of Glory, above what they attribute to Him, 180 And peace be unto those sent (to warn). 181 And all praise unto Allah the Lord of the worlds. 182
