So also was Jonah among those sent (by Us). 139 When he fled unto the laden ship, 140 and cast lots, and was of the rebutted, 141 And the fish swallowed him while he was blameworthy; 142 Had he not been one of those who glorify Allah, 143 he would have tarried in its belly until the day they shall be raised; 144 ۞ But We threw him on a wide bare tract of land while he was ill; 145 And We grew a tree of gourd (as a shelter) above him. 146 And We sent him (on a mission) to a hundred thousand (men) or more. 147 and they believed, and We gave them enjoyment for awhile. 148 Now ask them their opinion: Is it that thy Lord has (only) daughters, and they have sons?- 149 Or that We created the angels female, and they are witnesses (thereto)? 150 Is it not that they say, from their own invention, 151 "Allah has begotten children"? but they are liars! 152 Has He chosen daughters above sons? 153 What is the matter with you? How do you decide? 154 Will you then not take heed? 155 Do you have any clear authority for such claims? 156 Bring your Book, if you are truthful. 157 They have established a kinship between Allah and the angels; and the angels know well that these people will be arraigned (as culprits). 158 limitless is God in His glory, above anything that men may devise by way of definition! 159 Except the bondmen of Allah sincere. 160 But as for you, and that you worship, 161 Ye cannot excite (anyone) against Him. 162 Save him Who is to roast in the Flaming Fire. 163 There is not one of us but hath his known position. 164 we are the rangers, 165 and we are of those who glorify Allah.” 166 Even though they (unbelievers) say, 167 “If we had some advice from the earlier generations,” – 168 we would have been sincere worshipers of Allah' 169 But when it came to them, they rejected it. They shall soon come to know (the end of such an attitude). 170 for, long ago has Our word gone forth unto Our servants, the message-bearers, 171 That they verily would be made triumphant. 172 and that Our hosts shall triumph. 173 So, [O Muhammad], leave them for a time. 174 And watch them and they shall see (the punishment)! 175 Our torment seek they to hasten on! 176 But when it descends in their territory, then evil is the morning of those who were warned. 177 So turn (O Muhammad SAW) away from them for a while, 178 And watch, for they will soon see. 179 Exaltations be to your Lord, the Lord of Might, above that they describe! 180 And Peace on the messengers! 181 And all praise is due to Allah, the Lord of the worlds. 182
