S (Saad)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Sad [These letters (Sad etc.) are one of the miracles of the Quran and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings]. By the Quran full of reminding. 1 In fact, the disbelievers are in false pride and opposition. 2 How many a generation We destroyed before them, and they cried out when it was no longer the time for escape! 3 And they wonder that there has come to them a warner from among themselves. And the disbelievers say, "This is a magician and a liar. 4 “Has he made all the Gods into One God? This is really something very strange!” 5 Their assembly left (saying): 'Go, and be patient to your gods, this is something to be desired. 6 We have not heard this in the religious community close to our time. This is nothing but a fabrication. 7 Has this Exhortation been sent down among us only to him, to the exclusion of all others?” Nay, they are in doubt regarding My Exhortation, and are saying all this because they have not yet had any taste of My chastisement. 8 Or do they hold the treasures of the mercy of your Lord, the Almighty, the Great Bestower? 9 Or, is theirs the dominion of the heavens and the earth and that which is in-between the twain? If so, let them ascend by steps. 10 This is only a small army out of the several armies that will suffer defeat here. 11 To the truth gave the lie aforetime Noah's people, and [the tribe of] Ad, and Pharaoh of the [many] tent-poles, 12 Thamood, the nation of Lot and the dwellers of the Thicket such were the confederates. 13 Each of them gave the lie to Messengers and My decree of chastisement came upon them. 14
