The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the star when it sets: 1 That your companion is not confused, nor has he gone astray, 2 nor does he speak out of his desire. 3 It is naught save an inspiration that is inspired, 4 taught by One who is Stern in power. 5 very strong; he stood poised, 6 standing poised at the highest point on the horizon, 7 Then he drew near and hung above suspended, 8 Till he was two bows length off or yet nearer. 9 When He revealed to His votary what He revealed. 10 His heart added no untruth to what he saw. 11 Will ye therefore dispute with him concerning that which he hath seen? 12 Indeed, he saw him in another descent 13 by the lote-tree at the farthest boundary, 14 Near it is the Garden of Refuge - 15 when there covered the Lote-Tree that which covered; 16 His sight did not waver nor was it unduly bold. 17 and he certainly saw some of the greatest Signs of His Lord. 18 Have ye thought upon Al-Lat and Al-'Uzza 19 And Manat the other third? 20 Are there sons for you, and daughters for Him? 21 That indeed were an unfair division! 22 They are nothing but some names that you have coined, you and your forefathers – Allah has not sent any proof for them; they follow only guesses and their own desires; whereas the guidance from their Lord has come to them. 23 Shall man have whatsoever he wisheth for! 24 despite the fact that [both] the life to come and this present [one] belong to God [alone]? 25
