These wait for but one Shout, there will be no second thereto. 15 They say: Our Lord! Hasten on for us our fate before the Day of Reckoning. 16 Bear patiently with what they say, and remember Our worshiper David, a man of might. He was ever turning in repentance. 17 With him We subjected the mountains to give glory at evening and sunrise, 18 and the birds, duly mustered, every one to him reverting; 19 And We strengthened his kingdom and endowed him with wisdom and decisive judgement. 20 ۞ And did the news of the two disputants reach you? When they scaled over the wall into Dawud’s mosque. 21 When they entered the presence of David, and he was terrified of them, they said: "Fear not: we are two disputants, one of whom has wronged the other: Decide now between us with truth, and treat us not with injustice, but guide us to the even Path.. 22 Verily, this my brother (in religion) has ninety nine ewes, while I have (only) one ewe, and he says: "Hand it over to me, and he overpowered me in speech." 23 Said he, 'Assuredly he has wronged thee in asking for thy ewe in addition to his sheep; and indeed many intermixers do injury one against the other, save those who believe, and do deeds of righteousness -- and how few they are!' And David thought that We had only tried him; therefore he sought forgiveness of his Lord, and he fell down, bowing, and he repented. ۩ 24 Accordingly We forgave him that, and he has a near place in Our presence and a fair resort. 25 "O David, We have made you trustee on the earth. So judge between men equitably, and do not follow your lust lest it should lead you astray from the way of God. Surely for those who go astray from the way of God, is severe punishment, for having forgotten the Day of Reckoning. 26
