AND, [likewise,] indeed, the people of Al-Hijr gave the lie to [Our] message-bearers: 80 And though We had given them Our signs they turned away from them. 81 Out of the mountains did they hew (their) edifices, (feeling themselves) secure. 82 But As-Saihah (torment - awful cry etc.) overtook them in the early morning (of the fourth day of their promised punishment days). 83 Therefore their earnings did not in the least benefit them. 84 AND [remember:] We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them without [an inner] truth; but, behold, the Hour [when this will become clear to all] is indeed yet to come. Hence, forgive [men's failings] with fair forbearance: 85 verily, thy Sustainer is the all-knowing Creator of all things! 86 We have given you the seven oft-recited verses and the great Quran. 87 Do not strain your eyes towards the worldly benefits We have bestowed on some of them, nor grieve on their account. Lower your wing of mercy for the believers 88 And say: "I am indeed a plain warner." 89 (Of just such wrath) as We sent down on those who divided (Scripture into arbitrary parts),- 90 Who have made the Qur'an into portions. 91 Them, by thy Lord, We shall question, every one, 92 about what they did. 93 Preach what you have been commanded to and stay away from the pagans. 94 Verily We will suffice unto thee against the mockers. 95 and believe other things to be equal to God. They will soon know the truth. 96 And surely We know that your breast straitens at what they say; 97 But you should glorify your Lord with praises, and be among those who bow in submission; 98 And keep worshipping your Lord, till death* comes to you. (* The certainty.) 99
