Have you not seen how those who dispute the revelations of God, turn away from Truth to falsehood? 69 Those who gave the lie to this Book and all the Books which We had sent with Our Messengers shall soon come to know the Truth 70 when they shall have to carry the shackles and chains [of their own making] around their necks, 71 and are dragged into burning despair, and in the end become fuel for the fire [of hell]. 72 Then they will be asked, "Where are the idols which you worshipped besides God?" 73 They will reply, "They have abandoned us. In fact, we had worshipped nothing" Thus does God cause the disbelievers to go astray. 74 "This is so because you went about exulting wrongfully in the land," (will they be told), "and you were insolent. 75 Enter the gates of Hell to abide therein, and (indeed) what an evil abode of the arrogant! 76 So be patient, (O Prophet). Surely Allah's promise is true. Whether We show them a part of the woeful consequences against which We warn them (while you are still in their midst) or We recall you (from this world) before that, eventually it is to Us that they shall be brought back. 77 Before your time We sent other messengers: of them there are some whose story We have related to you, and some whose story We have not related to you. It was not [possible] for any messenger to bring a sign except by the leave of God: but when the command of God was issued, the matter was decided in truth and justice. There and then, those who stood on falsehoods perished. 78
