Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Ha-Mim. 1 [This is] a revelation from the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful - 2 A Book whose verses have been distinguished and explained, a lucid discourse for people who understand, 3 It contains glad news and warnings (for the people), but most of them have ignored it and do not listen. 4 They say: "Our hearts are under veils, (concealed) from that to which thou dost invite us, and in our ears is a deafness, and between us and thee is a screen: so do thou (what thou wilt); for us, we shall do (what we will!)" 5 Say: 'I am only a mortal, like you are. To me it has been revealed that your God is One God; so go straight with Him, and ask for His forgiveness; and woe to the idolaters 6 who do not pay the zakat, and who deny the Hereafter. 7 [But,] verily, they who have attained to faith and do good works shall have a reward unending! 8
